DeepSeek management has told potential investors during an ongoing RMB70 billion fundraising round that the company will prioritize breakthrough in AI research over short-term commercialization, Bloomberg reported, citing people with the knowledge of the matter. The company is in the final stages of discussions for the financing deal, sources divulged. Prior to this round, DeepSeek was valued at approximately USD45 billion. Potential investors include the National AI Industry Investment Fund, a vehicle set up by Beijing to advance strategic AI projects. The fund is reportedly in talks to invest around RMB10 billion.
